We warmly invite alumni and friends to join us on Saturday 16 November for a celebration of music in College, and to mark the 40th anniversary of David Rowland’s arrival as Director of Music. After an afternoon of rehearsals from 1pm, we will join together for a performance in Great St Mary’s at 5pm, followed by dinner in Hall at 7pm. There will be no charge to participate in the concert; attendance for non-participants will cost £10.
All alumni of the Christ’s College Choir and Music Society are invited to participate in the concert, which will comprise orchestral and choral works alongside a selection of chamber music from current students:
• All Choir and Christ’s Voices (or other vocal ensembles from over the years) alumni are invited to sing in Parry’s I was glad and Handel’s Zadok the Priest.
• Christ’s Orchestra and Lady Margaret Beaufort Ensemble alumni are invited to play for the Handel (strings, oboes, bassoons, trumpets), and depending on the response and forces available, other orchestral works and accompaniments.
• Those alumni who sang on the 2022 Parry recording will perform pieces from the newly released CD.
Guests are very welcome to attend the concert, and, depending on take up, we may have a small number of places at dinner, but we will prioritise participating alumni in the early stages of the booking period. Registration for concert participants will close on Sunday 6 October and remain open for those wishing to attend the concert or dinner until Thursday 31 October.
If you are keen to play and/or sing, please do provide details of your instrument and voice part during the registration process. We will be finalising the repertoire for the concert based on the responses received.
There will be spaces available in College for leaving bags and changing. As we are in Full Term there, we cannot offer accomodation in college.
