Welcome to the autumn 2022 issue of the e-newsletter
The weather is getting colder, the trees are turning red and gold, and Michaelmas term is in full swing here at Christ's!
New Faces at Christ's
In early October, we welcomed 128 new undergraduate students and 110 new postgraduate students to Christ's. Their first week was busy with Matriculation, the Freshers' Fair, and many social events organized by the JCR and MCR.

In September, we welcomed our new Master, Simon McDonald, and his wife, Olivia, to Christ's. His official declaration, which he made to former University Vice-Chancellor Stephen Toope, promised: ‘I Simon, Lord McDonald of Salford, elected Master of Christ’s College, do hereby solemnly promise that I will diligently administer the affairs of the College to the best of my power and ability; that I will guard all its property and possession of every description, and all its rights, liberties and privileges; and that I will faithfully keep and will do my best to cause others to keep all the Statutes and Ordinances of the College’. You can read an interview with Simon in the Cambridge Independent here.

Six new Fellows were admitted to the Fellowship on 30 September. You can find out more about them here, and in the 2022 College Magazine, which will be published in the coming weeks.

Look out for them in the plants around Second Court if you're walking through College!

Christ's is a Cambridge BID Awards Gold Winner!
Christ's was delighted to receive a gold BID Award for Best Overall Customer Experience 2022 - University College B&B. The annual BID Awards, run by Cambridge Business in Development (BID), celebrate the best customer service in the city and use mystery shoppers to assess standards of customer service, including welcome, staff attitude, and cleanliness. Many people at Christ's--including those in housekeeping, catering, gardening, and the Porters' Lodge--work hard to create a comfortable environment and experience for our B&B guests, and it was great to see their efforts recognized.
Alumni can book accommodation at Christ's during the vacation online here. To receive the alumni promotional rate, now available for all room types, enter the code alumni1505 into the 'Promo Code' box when selecting the dates of your stay.
