From the Master
|
Welcome to the Spring 2013 e-newsletter! Spring has finally arrived in College and our new signs are surrounded by bright bursts of flowers (left).
You should have recently had an email about the new alumni website, which we are pleased to have launched during the last month.
We hope that you enjoy using the site and the opportunity it affords to connect with College and each other.
Looking ahead, there are a number of ways to connect with each other in person as we move into Summer events season. These include our annual May Bumps Picnic, a June Reunion for alumni who matriculated from 1990-1995, the Family Day and Summer Garden Party and our annual Association Dinner.
I look forward to meeting many of you at one (or more!) of these occasions.

Telephone Campaign 2013
|
This year’s Telephone Campaign was a great success, raising nearly £233,000.
Our student callers were enthusiastic and passionate about supporting College, and focusing on Student Support and the Boathouse Redevelopment Project, they engaged a heartening number of alumni during the two weeks of calling. Well done to all involved in the campaign!

Boat House News
|
Fundraising for the Boathouse Redevelopment project is progressing well. We are looking forward to this Wednesday's Blades Drinks Reception in London, 8 May at the historic Waterman's Hall. This event will be fantastic opportunity for Christ’s Boaties and rowing enthusiasts to get together.
In other Boatie news, the Steering Committee of the Boat Club are looking for an alumni representative. The representative will just need to be able to devote three Saturday afternoons a year to attend meetings. This would make an ideal position for an alumna/us who is keen to get back on the water as there is always an opportunity for an outing in the Club Boat prior to the meetings!
For more information please contact the current representative, Tom Swallow: tom@swift-associates.demon.co.uk

Sixth Form visit to Christ's
|
This spring Christ's welcomed 70 talented and enthusiastic sixth formers in the inaugural Hereford HE+ visit to Cambridge. These students participated in a broad range of stimulating extension classes, and workshops.
Paula Stirling, Director of Admissions for Christ’s College, said “We are very excited to be working with such talented and enthusiastic young people. Christ’s College was delighted to host the inaugural Hereford HE+ visit to Cambridge and we look forward to many more.”

Sporting Connections
|
The arrival of spring has inspired Christ’s sporting societies and alumni members to host reunion sporting events.
Saturday 9 March saw a group of alumni from the 80s and 90s form a team to take on the current Christ's Football Club (pictured).
Rivalry continued on the same day with the annual CCRFC 'Old Boys' match. On Saturday 20 April the inaugural Hippolytans Sports Day and Dinner saw around 40 students and alumni get together for an afternoon sports day and dinner.

College Self-Shot 3
|
For the last two years College has mounted an exhibition of photographs taken by students and staff taken from the website.
This year we are producing a living-memory photography exhibition, which College is opening up to alumni. Click here to learn about how the photography exhibition has evolved in 2011 and 2012. Self-Shot 3 aims to allow members of the College to celebrate photography and share unique and interesting perspectives of life at Christ's.
We welcome colour or black and white digital documents. If you have a printed image please scan and send electronically. Your photographs will need to be suitable for A3 printing and we ask that each person sends a maximum of two images.
If you would like to take part, please send your work to Chloe at cja53@cam.ac.uk by May 31st at the latest.
