The Spyrou-Lintott Scholarship is named for two great friends who met at Christ's College.

George Spyrou came to Christ’s in 1971 to read for an LLM, having gained a BA from Harvard earlier that year.  He studied under many leading practitioners including Mr David Yale and Professor Sir Elihu Lauterpacht and had a strong interest in international law. He made lifelong friends with some of his fellow students and was a strong supporter of the College until his early death in 2010, serving as a member of the US Campaign Board during the College’s Quincentenary Fundraising Campaign.

Tim Lintott also matriculated at Christ's in 1971 to read Law. As well as his success in his academic work, he was a talented rugby player, gaining his Blue and becoming a member of the Hawks' Club. He went on to become a Partner at Freshfields. Tim was a member of the College's Development Board, and was elected a Lady Margaret Beaufort Fellow of the College in recognition of his support. He was the driving force behind the Spyrou Scholarship, which has now been renamed the Spyrou-Lintott Scholarship.

The value of the Scholarship is up to £15,000 but it will be reduced appropriately to take account of any payment from other sources.

The successful applicant will be selected from those who have obtained a place at Christ’s College Cambridge to study for the LLM. Full details of the course, entry requirements and how to apply for the LLM at Cambridge are available on line at http://www.llm.law.cam.ac.uk/. The deadline for applying is usually in the November of the year preceding admission. In order to ensure that you are considered for membership of Christ’s College you should list us as one of your preference Colleges, ideally your first choice College, on your initial University application; your details will be passed on to the College automatically if you are made a conditional offer by the University. If the College does accept you for membership then you will automatically be sent an application form for this Scholarship. You must complete and return it by the deadline. The next Scholarship will be offered for admission in 2023 and further information can be obtained by emailing the Christ's College Graduate Administrator at graduates@christs.cam.ac.uk.

The award holder is expected to attend a dinner in College with supporters of the Scholarship and to provide a report to the College by 30 September of the year following graduation detailing the impact the Scholarship has had.
