Welcome to the winter e-newsletter!
We are all looking forward to a busy festive season here at Christ's. You will see below that our wonderful College choir have a number of concerts planned for December that promise to be enjoyable events. We are also looking forward to meeting many of you at our annual Winter Drinks Reception, being held this year in the Athenaeum Club in London on December 2.

Old Library Exhibition
|
The debate between science and religion is one of the most fascinating and enduring themes of the modern world and this is the subject of the Old Library's forthcoming exhibition. 'Betwixt Truth and Truth: Debating Science and Religion at Christs's College, Cambridge' opens on 5 December 2014 and runs until 29 May 2015. Christ's College Choir

The choir are looking forward to a busy festive season with a number of concert dates in the diary:
December 4 Audley End House
December 8 St John's Smith Square
December 10 Wrest Park, Bedfordshire
December 11 St Martins in the Fields

The choir have also recently recorded a new CD of German Romantic Music by Brahms, Liszt, Rheinberger and Wolf. You can buy copies of the CD through the College Porters' Lodge.

Christ's College Fisher Society Event
|
The annual event for legators to the Christ's was another huge success this year. Guests enjoyed lunch in Hall before Professor Bill Steen gave a wonderful talk on the College's picture collection. Professor Steen's talk can be found here. The day continued with a visit to the Old Library exhibition and afternoon tea in the Buttery.

Lady Margaret Lecture: Peter Riddell
|
The Rt Hon Peter Riddell CBE, Director of the Institute of Government gave a lecture as part of this year's Lady Margaret Lecture Series. His talk was entitled 'How Governing has become harder: The increasing external and self-imposed constraints on governments'.

Distinguished Speaker Dinner - Sir Martin Sorrell
|
We were delighted to welcome Sir Martin Sorrell (m. 1963) as the speaker at our latest Distinguished Speaker Dinner at The Royal Society in London on November 20. Sir Martin spoke engagingly on the topic of 'Does Britain Mean Business?' and shared his personal experiences of building the world's leading advertising and communications business.

JCR Presidents
|
Were you a President of the JCR when you were a student? Last year's President is organising a reunion dinner in College on 11 April 2015 and hopes that as many former Presidents as possible will be able to attend. Our records are incomplete so please let us know if you should be added to the invitation list.
