Student Support Campaign 2016
We’re delighted to report that our 2016 Student Support Campaign, led by 16 of our current students, has now exceeded its initial campaign target! The total now stands at over £250,000, the majority of which is being directed towards the Student Support Fund. A huge thank you to all our alumni who have responded so positively to their appeal so far, particularly those who also took the time to speak to them during their calling period. With the support of our alumni, this vital fund will allow us to offer meaningful, needs-based financial assistance to any of our students facing financial difficulties. Every gift, large or small, really does make all the difference to those who receive it each year.
No Horizon play
A new musical is coming to this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe. No Horizon, tells the story of Nicholas Saunderson, the blind scientist and mathematician who studied at Cambridge and lived for a period at Christ's (and whose bust is on display by the pool). It is described as "a true but forgotten story of sacrifice and an impossible dream. A gripping tale of the blind boy who wanted to be seen. Humiliated by others, Saunderson harbours a hidden genius and an unquenchable thirst for learning. But it's the 1600s: no Braille, nobody to help, no hope. Yet Nicholas has aspirations. This tale of courage, love and adversity is set again the contrasting earthiness of Yorkshire and the dreaming spires of Cambridge". The show will be on at the Underbelly venue in Edinburgh between 3 - 27 August 2016. For more information and to book tickets please click here.
Head Porter portrait exhibition
"Head Porters are often the unsung heroes of the Cambridge colleges", says Cambridge-based artist Louise Riley-Smith, and it is these stalwarts that are the focus of her forthcoming exhibition which opens on Saturday 18 June. Porters is being held in the Pitt Building, Trumpington Street until 24 June, and you'll be able to see Christ's very own Head Porter, Kevin Cash (below), among those on display. Please click here for more information.
Second Women's Networking Event
The second of our networking events specifically for alumnae of Christ’s was held on 25 May at FieldFisher’s offices in London, by kind invitation of Sarah Ellson (m. 1990). It was another inspirational and enjoyable event, and we were very lucky to have as speakers Jane Graham Maw (m. 1982), Nina Gold (m. 1982) and Penny Pullan (m. 1986) discussing “The entrepreneurial alternative to corporate life”. As with the previous event we ran out of time before all the questions could be answered and there were many very interesting discussions happening during the buffet supper. We are still looking topics for future women’s networking events, so if you have any suggestions please get in contact with Rebecca Pitcaithly in the Development Office (rjp93@cam.ac.uk).

NetCommunity Alumni News
As you may be aware, collating news for this year's College Magazine has started once again and many of you will have been contacted by your Year Group Representative asking for your news from the past year. The Magazine is a great way to let others know what you've been up to and to keep in touch. We have a lot of dedicated Year Group Reps who do a wonderful job, but there are a few year groups who currently don't have a representative. This year is the first time that you can upload your news to the Members News section of our NetCommunity site, sending it directly to us here in the Development Office. If you are interested in doing this, please click here to be directed to the site. You can also use the site to search for old College friends, Christ's news, upcoming events and much more. You can view the Year Group Rep list here. If you would like to volunteer to be the representative for your year and there is a vacancy listed, please contact Sarah Proudfoot (shr29@cam.ac.uk).
Gardening Diary Coming Soon
We're excited to announce that a new feature will be coming to you in the next issue of the e-newsletter. He'll report on what's in bloom, what to look out for in the coming months and even give some seasonal gardening tips.
