Christ's tops Cambridge Colleges in National Student Survey

In this year’s National Student Survey, offered to all final-year students, 97% of Christ’s respondents agreed with the statement, “I am satisfied with the supervisions my College provides”, placing us first amongst Cambridge Colleges.

82% agreed with the statement, “I am satisfied with my College’s pastoral/tutorial provision”, placing us ninth out of the twenty-nine Cambridge Colleges included in the survey (graduate Colleges Clare Hall and Darwin College were not included).

Winners of the Christ's College GCSE Prize

Winners of the Christ’s College GCSE Prize were invited to College for a prize-giving ceremony on 29 October. These high achieving students from Harrow and Southwark, all on Free School Meals, were nominated by their teachers in recognition of their strong academic performance. This also included two prize winners, Tilisha Dusara and Dina Dawit, whose exceptional GCSE results earned them both the Lewisohn GCSE Prize. While in Christ’s, students enjoyed the chance to chat to some of our current undergraduate students, a tour of College and admissions talk by Christ’s’ Admissions Tutor Dr Andrew Spencer. 2015 was the inaugural year of the GCSE Prize, which will run again in 2016 to congratulate another cohort of students on their fantastic achievements at GCSE.

On the Run!

In March 2016, 'with a bit of luck and a following wind', Assistant Accountant, Chris Austin, will have worked at Christ's for 25 years. To mark the start of his 26th year at Christ's, Chris has signed up for the Edinburgh marathon in May 2016, and will be dedicating 26.2 miles to the College.

Young Alumni Event

On 29 October, Christ’s held its annual Young Alumni event, aimed at alumni who have graduated in the last ten years. This year, the event took place at the BBC's iconic art-deco headquarters, Broadcasting House, London. Those attending experieced an exclusive 'after-hours’ guided tour, including access to some of the BBC’s most well-known studios. As well as learning about the BBC’s history and architecture, guests were given the opportunity to produce their own news broadcast, a daily weather forecast and even a radio drama! The evening concluded with drinks in the Media Café, overlooking the familiar sight of the BBC’s working newsroom. Our guests seemed to very much enjoy the occasion, with Valerie Teh (m.2008) tweeting “Lights, camera, action @bbcshowstours. Thanks @christs_college for a great alum event!”
