Sacha Baron Cohen

 

Sacha Noam Baron Cohen (m. 1990) is an actor, comedian and writer and producer.

He was born 13 October 1971 in Hammersmith, west London. Baron Cohen was educated at The Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School, an independent school in Elstree, Hertfordshire. In 1990 he came up to Christ's College where he read history. At Cambridge, Baron Cohen joined the Footlights and acted in Fiddler on the Roof and Cyrano de Bergerac.

He is renowned for his portrayal of Ali G, Borat and Brüno, three fictitious characters he developed who play satirically on the responses of the unsuspecting public. He has received several Emmy nominations, two Oscar nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay, a BAFTA award, and two Golden Globes in 2006 and 2020 for Best Actor for his performances in the feature films Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan and its sequel, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.
